Henrietta supervisor to run unopposed in November election

Current Henrietta Town Supervisor Michael Yudelson will run for reelection this November unopposed.

Yudelson, who is finishing out his second term as supervisor, has worked for Henrietta in several capacities for 31 years.

The 54-year-old said that he’s excited to serve a third term.

“Being the town supervisor is a job I always wanted to do,” he said.

In reflecting on some of the highlights of his term, Yudelson said that he and the town have responded well to the economic challenges that the country has been facing.

“We’ve been able to keep the tax rate the same from when I took office and we have been able to keep spending fairly flat,” he said.

In a time when many companies have eliminated a portion of their workforce, Yudelson has kept the town’s workforce from growing, with about 10 percent less town employees from when he took office nearly four years ago.

Public hearing on Henrietta housing ordinance postponed

The public hearing in Henrietta to address a change to the housing ordinance has been postponed.

The town is considering a resolution that would change the definition of what is considered a family. The town wants to implement a housing ordinance which says “a family cannot be more than 3 unrelated people living together.”

This is in response to complaints that a landlord is cramming students into single family homes in a residential neighborhood. Homeowners have complained of increased traffic and noise due to loud parties.

Town Board members were supposed to meet tonight at 7 p.m. but have tentatively moved the hearing to November 2 at 7 p.m. in the Rush-Henrietta High School auditorium to accommodate the large number of people expected.
