Henrietta man found guilty in touching girls' feet at Penfield Library

A man accused of fondling the feet of young girls at a Penfield Library was found guilty.

On Monday afternoon, a jury convicted Anthony Perri, of Henrietta, of sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He will be sentenced next month. He faces up to 10 years in prison. 

Teen arrested in connection to purse snatching in Henrietta

A teenager is under arrest, charged in connection with a purse snatching that happened in Henrietta last Monday.

Monroe County Sheriffs Deputies say 16-year-old Michael Ruiz of Rochester is charged with robbery and assault.

Deputies say a 72-year-old Scottsville woman had just returned her cart and was walking back to her car in the  BJ's Wholesale Club parking lot on Jay Scutti Boulevard when a someone ran up behind her and grabbed her purse.

Deputies say the woman fell as the suspect yanked the purse from her. She suffered a broken arm and cuts to her face.

Ruiz was arraigned in Henrietta Town Court and is being held in the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond.

Rochester man charged with stealing from stores in Monroe County

Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a Rochester man who they say stole from three stores in Monroe County.

Jason Schmeer, 33, of Rochester, is charged with robbery and two counts of petit larceny.

Sheriff's Deputies say Schmeer admitted to robbing the Pep Boys in Henrietta on October 7. Sheriff's Deputies say he also stole from the Staples in Henrietta and the Tractor Supply Company in Sweden.

Schmeer was sent to the Monroe County Jail on $30,000 cash bail.

 

Deputies: 72-year-old woman injured in purse snatching in Henrietta

Sheriff’s deputies say a 72-year-old Scottsville woman suffered a broken arm and cuts to her face during a purse snatching. It happened shortly after 8 p.m. Monday in the BJ's Wholesale Club parking lot in Henrietta.

Investigators say the victim, Eleanor Lyons, had just returned her cart and was walking back to her vehicle when someone ran up behind her and grabbed her purse from her hands. Deputies say Lyons tried to hold onto the purse but fell to the ground.

No one was arrested. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

Henrietta man charged with burglary

A Henrietta man is facing charges after sheriff's deputies say he broke into a home in Henrietta on Thursday. 

Marquis Loyde, 21, of Henrietta, is charged with burglary.

Sheriff's Deputies say a resident came home around 5:00 p.m. and heard someone shutting the back door to his home on Parkerhouse Road. Police say the resident found Loyde running from the house. The resident chased Loyde for several blocks until he lost sight of him. Deputies responded and located Loyde on Notre Dame Drive in possession of items stolen from the home on Parkerhouse Road.

Loyde was sent to the Monroe County Jail on $15,000 cash bail. 

Case against man accused of killing brother moved to state supreme court

The case against a man accused of stabbing his brother to death in Henrietta last week has moved to New York State Supreme Court. 
 
Ahmad Jawed Mohammad-Askar is charged with second-degree murder. Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies say they found him late Tuesday morning covered in blood outside the Thali of India Restaurant on South Winton Road.  Both Mohammad-Askar and his brother were employees of the restaurant.
  
Mohammad-Askar is being held in the Monroe County Jail without bail.
  
 

Rochester man acquitted in 2004 Henrietta hotel murder

A Monroe County jury has found a Rochester man not guilty of shooting and killing a RIT student in a Henrietta hotel more than nine years ago.
 
Michael Baccari, 56, was arrested in September of 2012 and charged with the 2004 murder of 33-year-old Paul Pelletier. 
 
Pelletier was working the overnight desk at the Comfort Inn on Hylan Drive when he was killed. At that time, investigators believed it was an attempted robbery.
