Local chefs gear up for the Super Bowl

A lot of restaurants in the Rochester area have already started prepping food for the Super Bowl.

Friday morning, News 10NBC caught up with Chef Mike Balsch from Sticky Lips Barbeque on Jefferson Road in Henrietta where he was making a marinade for the restaurant’s new smoked beef jerky.

Perkins closes locations in Gates and Henrietta

A popular restaurant has closed two of its locations in our area. News10NBC has learned Perkins shut down its restaurants on Chili Avenue in Gates and Jefferson Road in Henrietta this month.

The company which owns the chain filed for bankruptcy last November.

Perkins locations in Greece and Fairport are still open for business.

Dairy Queen coming to Henrietta

Dairy Queen coming to Henrietta

We have all seen the commercials even though there are no locations in Rochester. But it looks now the popular fast-food chain known for its ice cream treats might be coming to Rochester.

According to its website, Dairy Queen will be opening a DQ Grill & Chill restaurant location on Jefferson Road in Henrietta. The restaurant would located near the RIT campus.

We are not sure when construction will begin on the restaurant and when it will open. News10NBC will keep you posted.

Henrietta Zoning Board to consider sandwich shop Jimmy John's

The Town of Henrietta Zoning Board of Appeals is expected to hold a public hearing for applications by sandwich shop Jimmy John's at 7 p.m on Thursday at the Henrietta Town Hall on Calkins Road.

On Thursday, the board is expected to consider the following applications: Jimmy John’s requesting a variance for a second and third wall sign at 1635 East Henrietta Road.

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches was founded in 1983 and has more than 1,000 locations in 39 states. There is one location on Marshall Street on the Syracuse University campus and one on Ridge Road in Webster.

Sticky Lips to open in Henrietta Thursday

The Sticky Lips BBQ Juke Joint will open in Henrietta Thursday, Oct. 6.

The restaurant already has live music scheduled throughout the month of October.

The restaurant at 830 Jefferson Road is the second in Rochester. The original location is at 625 Culver Road in Rochester.

The restaurant recently gained national attention when it was selected to appear on the Travel Channel's Man v. Food Nation.

Wings over Rochester to open in Henrietta

There's a new chicken wing place opening in Henrietta. Wings Over Rochester will be located on West Henrietta Road, in the former KFC building.

Empire Commercial Construction is currently completing construction on the building. Wings Over Rochester owners Matthew Kamins hopes to open the new restaurant in early October.

The Wings Over Rochester is part of the Wings Over chain, which has 25 locations in 11 states. The chain is known for its chicken wings, chicken tenders and ribs. The menu also includes salads and burgers. Wings Over Rochester will offer sit down service and delivery service. Customers can also order by phone and online.

Roost Country Showcase in Henrietta to close on Saturday

A popular place for country music and country line dancing is closing its doors.

The Roost Country Showcase, located next to the Days Inn on West Henrietta Road in Henrietta, will close its door on Saturday.

The owner of the restaurant and bar, Dave Ives, told the Democrat and Chronicle that The Roost has been struggling financially in recent years and that he wants to spend more time with his family. He also told them he's thinking of opening a smaller place in the future. Ives also said he has potential buyers for the club who are interested in keeping The Roost a country bar and restaurant, but that no deal has been reached yet. Ives told the paper it might be open again by mid-November, but he didn't know anything for sure.

The Roost has been opened since 2003. The country band, Flint Creek, will play the final night on Saturday.
